Scotland jaunt

What a weekend! We drove over 1000 and didn’t break down once. Dan and Jay had also managed to fix the heating system in the van (it is now jammed onto ‘Sub-Saharan Africa’) so we didn’t all die in the snow.

Mills

Twas a pleasure indeed to be travelling with one of the boys from the October tour, a Mr. Jonny Mills. We compared opportunities that had passed us by in our lifetimes for what seemed like a blissful eternity. We even developed our own language to cover some of the more difficult themes. Top lad.  EDINBURGH:

Great to hook up with Andy Knox again. Reminded us of tour and was a pleasure, as always, to see the lads perform. Cabaret Voltaire is a really amazing venue and thanks to everyone who came down. We were pleasantly surprised by the turnout ;-)

After queuing in the freezing cold trying to chase some girls and getting nowhere fast, we ended up drinking on our own in a bar somewhere that was close to sea level. Uneventful but not unpleasant.

ST. ANDREWS

Then we had the enviable task of playing at the Welly Ball in St. Andrews on Saturday night. Nice big sound rig, top quality food and loads of lovely people. We played a bit longer than usual and included a cover of Born Slippy which seemed to work well with the strobe lights and smoke machine…

We really need to let you know what sort of band we are at this point. Ed Stalsberg (bass) was approached by three attractive young ladies who (not a word of a lie) offered him the following itinerary:

An all-female slumber party.

Now, why they extended their offer to him on this we are unsure. It might be because he was in the band and they were still captivated by his bass techniques, it might be because he seemed so out of place and therefore interesting (no tux, you see) or it might have been because his chat was so spectacular. We will never know.

KY/baby oil paddling pool wrestling.

They had apparently spent all day getting a paddling pool full of lubricant ready for when they came back from the ball. They also apparently had a long history of competitive KY wrestling in their household and were ready to welcome Ed to the tradition.

A full-cooked English breakfast in the morning.

All the trimmings.

What did Ed say? He said he was “unsure of the logistics” and he’d “have to mull it over”.
